Barangay M. Veloso

Situated in Calubian, Leyte, Barangay M. Veloso is one of 53 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay M. Veloso had a population of 632. This made it the 20th largest of 53 barangays in Calubian by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay M. Veloso accounted for approximately 2.00% of the total population of Calubian, which stood at 31,646 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 643 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 632 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -1.7%, consistent with a broadly stable settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay M. Veloso as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Calubian is a municipality comprising 53 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay M. Veloso, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Leyte, which contains 1,641 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay M. Veloso ranks 993rd by 2020 population.
