Barangay Balilit

Situated in Carigara, Leyte, Barangay Balilit is one of 49 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Balilit had a population of 978. This made it the 28th largest of 49 barangays in Carigara by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balilit accounted for approximately 1.79% of the total population of Carigara, which stood at 54,656 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Balilit moving from 998 residents to 978 residents, an intercensal change of -2.0%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Balilit is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
