Barangay Escuala

Barangay Escuala forms part of Casiguran, a municipality in Sorsogon, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Escuala had a population of 1,310. This made it the 15th largest of 25 barangays in Casiguran by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Escuala accounted for approximately 3.68% of the total population of Casiguran, which stood at 35,602 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Escuala moving from 1,164 residents to 1,310 residents, an intercensal change of +12.5%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Escuala as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Casiguran is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Escuala, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
