Barangay Dangcalan

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Dangcalan is one of the administrative divisions of Castilla in Sorsogon, Bicol Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Dangcalan had a population of 413. This made it the 34th largest of 34 barangays in Castilla by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Dangcalan accounted for approximately 0.68% of the total population of Castilla, which stood at 60,635 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Dangcalan changed from 454 to 413, a shift of -9.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Castilla. Barangay Dangcalan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Castilla is a municipality comprising 34 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Dangcalan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Sorsogon, which contains 541 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Dangcalan ranks 509th by 2020 population.
