Barangay Claro M. Recto

Barangay Claro M. Recto is a very small barangay in the municipality of Catubig, located in the province of Northern Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Claro M. Recto had a population of 475. This made it the 26th largest of 47 barangays in Catubig by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Claro M. Recto accounted for approximately 1.48% of the total population of Catubig, which stood at 32,174 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Claro M. Recto changed from 500 to 475, a shift of -5.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Catubig. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Claro M. Recto as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Catubig is a municipality comprising 47 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Claro M. Recto, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
