Barangay Comillas South

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Comillas South is one of the administrative divisions of Cervantes in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Comillas South had a population of 2,154. This made it the 3rd largest of 13 barangays in Cervantes by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Comillas South accounted for approximately 11.08% of the total population of Cervantes, which stood at 19,449 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,834 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,154 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +17.4%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Comillas South as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Cervantes is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Comillas South, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
