Barangay Canlaray

Barangay Canlaray is a very small barangay in the city of City of Borongan, located in the province of Eastern Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Canlaray had a population of 379. This made it the 49th largest of 61 barangays in City of Borongan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Canlaray accounted for approximately 0.53% of the total population of City of Borongan, which stood at 71,961 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Canlaray moving from 332 residents to 379 residents, an intercensal change of +14.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Canlaray as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Borongan is a city comprising 61 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Canlaray, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Eastern Samar, which contains 597 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Canlaray ranks 437th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
