Barangay Awang East (Pob.)

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Awang East (Pob.) is one of the administrative divisions of City of Calbayog in Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Awang East (Pob.) had a population of 2,223. This made it the 21st largest of 157 barangays in City of Calbayog by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Awang East (Pob.) accounted for approximately 1.19% of the total population of City of Calbayog, which stood at 186,960 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,434 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,223 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -8.7%, consistent with a contracting settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Awang East (Pob.) as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Calbayog is a city comprising 157 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Awang East (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Samar, which contains 951 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Awang East (Pob.) ranks 45th by 2020 population. Samar is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.
