Barangay Awang West (Pob.)

Barangay Awang West (Pob.) is a mid-sized barangay in the city of City of Calbayog, located in the province of Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Awang West (Pob.) had a population of 2,066. This made it the 26th largest of 157 barangays in City of Calbayog by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Awang West (Pob.) accounted for approximately 1.11% of the total population of City of Calbayog, which stood at 186,960 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Awang West (Pob.) changed from 2,603 to 2,066, a shift of -20.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in City of Calbayog. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Awang West (Pob.) as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Calbayog is a city comprising 157 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Awang West (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
