Barangay Carael

Barangay Carael is a large barangay in the City of Dagupan, located in the province of Pangasinan, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Carael had a population of 6,490. This made it the 8th largest of 31 barangays in City of Dagupan by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Carael accounted for approximately 3.72% of the total population of City of Dagupan, which stood at 174,302 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,872 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 6,490 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +33.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Carael is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Dagupan is a city comprising 31 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Carael, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Pangasinan, which contains 1,364 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Carael ranks 31st by 2020 population. The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
