Barangay Galas

Barangay Galas forms part of City of Dipolog, a city in Zamboanga Del Norte, and is classified as a very large barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Galas had a population of 19,508. This made it the 1st largest of 21 barangays in City of Dipolog by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Galas accounted for approximately 14.12% of the total population of City of Dipolog, which stood at 138,141 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 17,540 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 19,508 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +11.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Galas is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Dipolog is a city comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Galas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Norte, which contains 691 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Galas ranks 1st by 2020 population. Zamboanga Del Norte is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
