Barangay Hinigdaan

Situated in City of El Salvador, Misamis Oriental, Barangay Hinigdaan is one of 15 barangays that make up the city within Northern Mindanao.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Hinigdaan had a population of 2,089. This made it the 8th largest of 15 barangays in City of El Salvador by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Hinigdaan accounted for approximately 3.55% of the total population of City of El Salvador, which stood at 58,771 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,749 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,089 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +19.4%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Hinigdaan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of El Salvador is a city comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Hinigdaan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
