Barangay Langub

Barangay Langub is a mid-sized barangay in the City of Escalante, located in the province of Negros Occidental, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Langub had a population of 2,895. This made it the 13th largest of 21 barangays in City of Escalante by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Langub accounted for approximately 3.01% of the total population of City of Escalante, which stood at 96,159 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Langub moving from 3,065 residents to 2,895 residents, an intercensal change of -5.5%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Langub is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Escalante is a city comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Langub, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Barangay Langub is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
