Barangay Lawit

Barangay Lawit is a small barangay in the City of Gingoog, located in the province of Misamis Oriental, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Lawit had a population of 550. This made it the 60th largest of 79 barangays in City of Gingoog by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Lawit accounted for approximately 0.40% of the total population of City of Gingoog, which stood at 136,698 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Lawit moving from 490 residents to 550 residents, an intercensal change of +12.2%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Lawit is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Gingoog is a city comprising 79 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Lawit, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
