Barangay Hibaiyo

Barangay Hibaiyo forms part of City of Guihulngan, a city in Negros Oriental, and is classified as a large barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Hibaiyo had a population of 5,602. This made it the 3rd largest of 33 barangays in City of Guihulngan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Hibaiyo accounted for approximately 5.46% of the total population of City of Guihulngan, which stood at 102,656 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 5,196 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 5,602 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +7.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Hibaiyo is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Guihulngan is a city comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Hibaiyo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Hibaiyo ranks 45th by 2020 population. Negros Oriental is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
