Barangay Hilaitan

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Hilaitan is one of the administrative divisions of City of Guihulngan in Negros Oriental, Central Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Hilaitan had a population of 5,329. This made it the 4th largest of 33 barangays in City of Guihulngan by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Hilaitan accounted for approximately 5.19% of the total population of City of Guihulngan, which stood at 102,656 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 5,235 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 5,329 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.8%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Hilaitan is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Guihulngan is a city comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Hilaitan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Hilaitan ranks 49th by 2020 population.
