Barangay Hinakpan

Barangay Hinakpan is a mid-sized barangay in the City of Guihulngan, located in the province of Negros Oriental, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Hinakpan had a population of 2,262. This made it the 18th largest of 33 barangays in City of Guihulngan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Hinakpan accounted for approximately 2.20% of the total population of City of Guihulngan, which stood at 102,656 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Hinakpan changed from 2,230 to 2,262, a shift of +1.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in City of Guihulngan. Barangay Hinakpan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Guihulngan is a city comprising 33 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Hinakpan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Hinakpan ranks 228th by 2020 population. The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
