Barangay Bantayan

Barangay Bantayan forms part of City of Kabankalan, a city in Negros Occidental, and is classified as a large barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bantayan had a population of 10,896. This made it the 6th largest of 32 barangays in City of Kabankalan by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Bantayan accounted for approximately 5.44% of the total population of City of Kabankalan, which stood at 200,198 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 9,742 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 10,896 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +11.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bantayan is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Kabankalan is a city comprising 32 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bantayan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Occidental, which contains 662 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bantayan ranks 36th by 2020 population. The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
