Barangay Bagtican

Situated in City of Maasin, Southern Leyte, Barangay Bagtican is one of 70 barangays that make up the city within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bagtican had a population of 675. This made it the 49th largest of 70 barangays in City of Maasin by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Bagtican accounted for approximately 0.77% of the total population of City of Maasin, which stood at 87,446 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 609 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 675 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bagtican is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Maasin is a city comprising 70 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bagtican, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
