Barangay Bato I

Barangay Bato I is a small barangay in the City of Maasin, located in the province of Southern Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bato I had a population of 708. This made it the 47th largest of 70 barangays in City of Maasin by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Bato I accounted for approximately 0.81% of the total population of City of Maasin, which stood at 87,446 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 690 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 708 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.6%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bato I is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Maasin is a city comprising 70 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bato I, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Southern Leyte, which contains 500 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bato I ranks 243rd by 2020 population.
