Situated in City of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Barangay Magsaysay is one of 46 barangays that make up the city within Northern Mindanao.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Magsaysay had a population of 3,176. This made it the 20th largest of 46 barangays in City of Malaybalay by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Magsaysay accounted for approximately 1.67% of the total population of City of Malaybalay, which stood at 190,712 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,001 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,176 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +5.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Magsaysay is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Malaybalay is a city comprising 46 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Magsaysay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bukidnon, which contains 464 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Magsaysay ranks 155th by 2020 population. Barangay Magsaysay is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
