Barangay Badas

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Badas is one of the administrative divisions of City of Mati in Davao Oriental, Davao Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Badas had a population of 7,042. This made it the 5th largest of 26 barangays in City of Mati by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Badas accounted for approximately 4.77% of the total population of City of Mati, which stood at 147,547 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 6,916 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 7,042 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.8%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Badas is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Mati is a city comprising 26 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Badas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Davao Oriental, which contains 183 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Badas ranks 12th by 2020 population. Davao Oriental is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
