Barangay Caingal forms part of City of San Carlos, a city in Pangasinan, and is classified as a small barangay.

This made it the 64th largest of 86 barangays in City of San Carlos by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Caingal as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
