Barangay Cobo

Barangay Cobo is a mid-sized barangay in the city of City of Tabaco, located in the province of Albay, in the Bicol Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Cobo had a population of 3,439. This made it the 18th largest of 47 barangays in City of Tabaco by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Cobo accounted for approximately 2.44% of the total population of City of Tabaco, which stood at 140,961 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Cobo moving from 3,592 residents to 3,439 residents, an intercensal change of -4.3%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Cobo as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Tabaco is a city comprising 47 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cobo, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Albay, which contains 720 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cobo ranks 98th by 2020 population. Barangay Cobo is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
