Barangay Poblacion

Barangay Poblacion forms part of City of Tacurong, a city in Sultan Kudarat, and is classified as a very large barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 15,696. This made it the 1st largest of 20 barangays in City of Tacurong by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 14.36% of the total population of City of Tacurong, which stood at 109,319 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion changed from 16,199 to 15,696, a shift of -3.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in City of Tacurong. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Tacurong is a city comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Sultan Kudarat, which contains 249 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 2nd by 2020 population. Sultan Kudarat is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Poblacion is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
