Barangay Makat

Barangay Makat is a small barangay in the municipality of Columbio, located in the province of Sultan Kudarat, in the SOCCSKSARGEN region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Makat had a population of 554. This made it the 16th largest of 16 barangays in Columbio by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Makat accounted for approximately 1.65% of the total population of Columbio, which stood at 33,527 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Makat moving from 738 residents to 554 residents, an intercensal change of -24.9%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Makat is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Columbio is a municipality comprising 16 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Makat, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
