Barangay Gilutongan

Barangay Gilutongan is a small barangay in the municipality of Cordova, located in the province of Cebu, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Gilutongan had a population of 1,606. This made it the 13th largest of 13 barangays in Cordova by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Gilutongan accounted for approximately 2.27% of the total population of Cordova, which stood at 70,595 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Gilutongan moving from 1,640 residents to 1,606 residents, an intercensal change of -2.1%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Gilutongan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Cordova is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Gilutongan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cebu, which contains 1,203 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Gilutongan ranks 640th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
