Barangay Poblacion

Barangay Poblacion is a large barangay in the municipality of Cordova, located in the province of Cebu, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 10,163. This made it the 2nd largest of 13 barangays in Cordova by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 14.40% of the total population of Cordova, which stood at 70,595 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Poblacion moving from 9,625 residents to 10,163 residents, an intercensal change of +5.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Poblacion is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Cordova is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cebu, which contains 1,203 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion ranks 59th by 2020 population. Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Poblacion is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
