Barangay Capandan

Barangay Capandan is a very small barangay in the municipality of Cortes, located in the province of Surigao Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Capandan had a population of 427. This made it the 11th largest of 12 barangays in Cortes by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Capandan accounted for approximately 2.38% of the total population of Cortes, which stood at 17,924 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Capandan moving from 336 residents to 427 residents, an intercensal change of +27.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Capandan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
