Barangay Matho

Barangay Matho is a small barangay in the municipality of Cortes, located in the province of Surigao Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Matho had a population of 1,451. This made it the 5th largest of 12 barangays in Cortes by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Matho accounted for approximately 8.10% of the total population of Cortes, which stood at 17,924 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Matho moving from 1,124 residents to 1,451 residents, an intercensal change of +29.1%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Matho is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
