This made it the 20th largest of 22 barangays in Cuartero by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Lunayan accounted for approximately 2.77% of the total population of Cuartero, which stood at 27,993 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Lunayan changed from 736 to 775, a shift of +5.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Cuartero.
