Barangay Carit-an

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Carit-an is one of the administrative divisions of Culasi in Antique, Western Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Carit-an had a population of 638. This made it the 29th largest of 44 barangays in Culasi by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Carit-an accounted for approximately 1.43% of the total population of Culasi, which stood at 44,494 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 628 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 638 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +1.6%, consistent with a slowly expanding settlement. Barangay Carit-an is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Culasi is a municipality comprising 44 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Carit-an, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Antique, which contains 590 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Carit-an ranks 355th by 2020 population. Antique is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.
