Barangay Esperanza

Situated in Culasi, Antique, Barangay Esperanza is one of 44 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Esperanza had a population of 2,300. This made it the 3rd largest of 44 barangays in Culasi by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Esperanza accounted for approximately 5.17% of the total population of Culasi, which stood at 44,494 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,132 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,300 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +103.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Esperanza is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Culasi is a municipality comprising 44 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Esperanza, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Antique, which contains 590 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Esperanza ranks 41st by 2020 population.
