Barangay Malingin

Situated in Daanbantayan, Cebu, Barangay Malingin is one of 20 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Malingin had a population of 1,804. This made it the 20th largest of 20 barangays in Daanbantayan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malingin accounted for approximately 1.93% of the total population of Daanbantayan, which stood at 93,502 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Malingin changed from 1,600 to 1,804, a shift of +12.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Daanbantayan. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Malingin as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Daanbantayan is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malingin, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
