Situated in Danao City, Cebu, Barangay Mantija is one of 42 barangays that make up the city within Central Visayas.

This made it the 24th largest of 42 barangays in Danao City by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Mantija changed from 1,447 to 1,605, a shift of +10.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Danao City. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Mantija as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
