Barangay Bascaran

Situated in Daraga, Albay, Barangay Bascaran is one of 54 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bascaran had a population of 4,809. This made it the 6th largest of 54 barangays in Daraga by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bascaran accounted for approximately 3.59% of the total population of Daraga, which stood at 133,893 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,335 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 4,809 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +10.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bascaran is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Daraga is a municipality comprising 54 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bascaran, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
