Barangay Apo Island

Barangay Apo Island is a small barangay in the municipality of Dauin, located in the province of Negros Oriental, in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Apo Island had a population of 920. This made it the 14th largest of 23 barangays in Dauin by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Apo Island accounted for approximately 3.06% of the total population of Dauin, which stood at 30,018 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Apo Island changed from 823 to 920, a shift of +11.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Dauin. Barangay Apo Island is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Dauin is a municipality comprising 23 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Apo Island, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Oriental, which contains 557 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Apo Island ranks 476th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
