Barangay Upper Dimaya

Barangay Upper Dimaya is a very small barangay in the municipality of Dinas, located in the province of Zamboanga Del Sur, in the Zamboanga Peninsula region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Upper Dimaya had a population of 440. This made it the 30th largest of 30 barangays in Dinas by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Upper Dimaya accounted for approximately 1.21% of the total population of Dinas, which stood at 36,291 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Upper Dimaya moving from 428 residents to 440 residents, an intercensal change of +2.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Upper Dimaya as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Dinas is a municipality comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Upper Dimaya, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Sur, which contains 779 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Upper Dimaya ranks 628th by 2020 population.
