Barangay Mabasa

Situated in Dupax Del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya, Barangay Mabasa is one of 15 barangays that make up the municipality within Cagayan Valley.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Mabasa had a population of 2,826. This made it the 5th largest of 15 barangays in Dupax Del Norte by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Mabasa accounted for approximately 8.49% of the total population of Dupax Del Norte, which stood at 33,295 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,319 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,826 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +21.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Mabasa is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Dupax Del Norte is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mabasa, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Nueva Vizcaya, which contains 275 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Mabasa ranks 48th by 2020 population. Nueva Vizcaya is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Mabasa is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
