Barangay Munguia

Barangay Munguia is a small barangay in the municipality of Dupax Del Norte, located in the province of Nueva Vizcaya, in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Munguia had a population of 1,375. This made it the 11th largest of 15 barangays in Dupax Del Norte by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Munguia accounted for approximately 4.13% of the total population of Dupax Del Norte, which stood at 33,295 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Munguia changed from 1,032 to 1,375, a shift of +33.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Dupax Del Norte. Barangay Munguia is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Dupax Del Norte is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Munguia, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Nueva Vizcaya, which contains 275 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Munguia ranks 142nd by 2020 population. Barangay Munguia is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
