Barangay Poblacion I

Barangay Poblacion I is a mid-sized barangay in the municipality of Enrique B. Magalona, located in the province of Negros Occidental, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Poblacion I had a population of 2,459. This made it the 14th largest of 23 barangays in Enrique B. Magalona by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion I accounted for approximately 3.82% of the total population of Enrique B. Magalona, which stood at 64,290 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,810 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,459 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -12.5%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Poblacion I is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Enrique B. Magalona is a municipality comprising 23 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion I, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Negros Occidental, which contains 662 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Poblacion I ranks 398th by 2020 population.
