Situated in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat, Barangay Salumping is one of 19 barangays that make up the municipality within SOCCSKSARGEN.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Salumping had a population of 9,374. This made it the 1st largest of 19 barangays in Esperanza by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Salumping accounted for approximately 12.55% of the total population of Esperanza, which stood at 74,696 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Salumping moving from 7,577 residents to 9,374 residents, an intercensal change of +23.7%. The trajectory indicates a growing community.
