Barangay San Roque

Situated in Esperanza, Masbate, Barangay San Roque is one of 20 barangays that make up the municipality within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Roque had a population of 670. This made it the 16th largest of 20 barangays in Esperanza by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Roque accounted for approximately 3.82% of the total population of Esperanza, which stood at 17,534 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay San Roque changed from 701 to 670, a shift of -4.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Esperanza. Barangay San Roque is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Esperanza is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Roque, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
