Barangay Vigan

Situated in General Macarthur, Eastern Samar, Barangay Vigan is one of 30 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Vigan had a population of 1,314. This made it the 2nd largest of 30 barangays in General Macarthur by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Vigan accounted for approximately 9.12% of the total population of General Macarthur, which stood at 14,411 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Vigan moving from 1,526 residents to 1,314 residents, an intercensal change of -13.9%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Vigan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

General Macarthur is a municipality comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Vigan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
