Barangay Camam-onan

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Camam-onan is one of the administrative divisions of Gigaquit in Surigao Del Norte, Caraga, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Camam-onan had a population of 2,189. This made it the 4th largest of 13 barangays in Gigaquit by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Camam-onan accounted for approximately 10.02% of the total population of Gigaquit, which stood at 21,849 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,041 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,189 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +7.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Camam-onan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Gigaquit is a municipality comprising 13 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Camam-onan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Norte, which contains 335 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Camam-onan ranks 59th by 2020 population. Barangay Camam-onan is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
