Barangay Villafranca

Barangay Villafranca is a small barangay in the municipality of Gigaquit, located in the province of Surigao Del Norte, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Villafranca had a population of 1,869. This made it the 5th largest of 13 barangays in Gigaquit by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Villafranca accounted for approximately 8.55% of the total population of Gigaquit, which stood at 21,849 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Villafranca moving from 1,752 residents to 1,869 residents, an intercensal change of +6.7%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Villafranca as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
