Barangay Bagong Oroquieta

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Bagong Oroquieta is one of the administrative divisions of Guipos in Zamboanga Del Sur, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bagong Oroquieta had a population of 1,806. This made it the 4th largest of 17 barangays in Guipos by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bagong Oroquieta accounted for approximately 8.31% of the total population of Guipos, which stood at 21,738 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Bagong Oroquieta changed from 1,632 to 1,806, a shift of +10.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Guipos. Barangay Bagong Oroquieta is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Guipos is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bagong Oroquieta, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
