Barangay Magting

Situated in Guipos, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay Magting is one of 17 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Magting had a population of 319. This made it the 17th largest of 17 barangays in Guipos by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Magting accounted for approximately 1.47% of the total population of Guipos, which stood at 21,738 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 377 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 319 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -15.4%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Magting is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Guipos is a municipality comprising 17 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Magting, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Sur, which contains 779 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Magting ranks 672nd by 2020 population.
