Barangay Guihing

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Guihing is one of the administrative divisions of Hagonoy in Davao Del Sur, Davao Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Guihing had a population of 11,439. This made it the 1st largest of 21 barangays in Hagonoy by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Guihing accounted for approximately 20.10% of the total population of Hagonoy, which stood at 56,919 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Guihing changed from 10,845 to 11,439, a shift of +5.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Hagonoy. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Guihing as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Hagonoy is a municipality comprising 21 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Guihing, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Davao Del Sur, which contains 414 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Guihing ranks 9th by 2020 population. Davao Del Sur is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The barangay's legislative and executive affairs are handled by a Punong Barangay and the Sangguniang Barangay, elected nationwide during the Barangay and SK Elections. The next BSKE is scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, following the synchronized election schedule set by COMELEC Resolution No. 11191.
