Situated in Hagonoy, Bulacan, Barangay Santa Cruz is one of 26 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Luzon.

This made it the 21st largest of 26 barangays in Hagonoy by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Santa Cruz accounted for approximately 2.42% of the total population of Hagonoy, which stood at 133,448 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Santa Cruz changed from 3,484 to 3,223, a shift of -7.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Hagonoy. Barangay Santa Cruz is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
